Of Convoys & Coinage
I’m currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on a new album featuring orchestral music blended with all manner of exotic and strange (to me) instruments. If all goes well it should grace the world before the end of 2025.

A Shrouded Talisman
Greetings dear listeners. After taking a bit of time to reorganize my creative thoughts following the release of my last album (The Ensorcelled Crow), I’ve begun work on a new body of compositions incorporating ever more exotic (to me) instruments into the ensemble I’m writing for. Ultimately I will weave these compositions into a narrative fit for an album release, but for now I’d love to share a single with you.
Check it out on your music platform of choice below 🙂

The Ensorcelled Crow
Suddenly the crow could divine all the futures and in the ensuing years he cawed of his visions to an ever-growing cult of followers…

Old Demesne
Keeping it simple - a single synth (Yamaha reface DX) and an FX pedal (Line6 HX Stomp) to dirty up and prettify the sound a little. Fishing for ideas while improvising is a fun way to work 😀 . https://youtu.be/8KDzv68YtCY
The Ensorcelled Crow Release
Dear listeners, I bring you a new album - fantasy music of the orchestral and synth variety. This short album is inspired by the tale of a crow which became accidentally enchanted when a confused wizard, having brewed one too many a potion, left his magical reagents...
Moonbeams in Miniature
When the muse is elusive, I always go back to writing miniatures for solo instruments. Hence this little composition was born. You can grab a free copy over on BANDCAMP https://youtu.be/0thNBtDpwFg
Confession of a Cubase User
Sometimes the thing you think you love is not actually the thing you love 😛 . I've been a Cubase user for a long time, almost as long as I've been making orchestral music using the computer and virtual instruments. Yet I keep falling back into Presonus Studio One,...
Wet Hands for Violin, Piano, and Synth
For a time during my younger years I spent SO many hours playing Minecraft. I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to do a little arrangement of this melody from the soundtrack. This is also incidentally the first time that I'm recording on this particular violin - it's...
Wielding a new homemade patch for Fantasy Synth on the Reface DX
The Yahama Reface DX is relatively new in my studio and although the stock presets it comes with are fantastic, I need more fantasy / dark / dungeony sounds on it for making fantasy synth or dungeon synth. This is a patch I programmed this morning, and I'm taking it...
Simple Melody on Fresh Gut
I was playing in some new gut strings with simple melodies and I thought - why not capture some of it? I'm trying a slightly thicker gauge string and I'm liking it so far. Please enjoy this little melody by Mozart 🙂 https://youtu.be/qqxLkFgahfA
An Improvisation on the Reface DX
A machine made for fantasy synth? I've recently welcomed this little synth into my studio - the Yamaha Reface DX. I'm a HUGE lover of FM synthesis and so it just makes me smile every time I play on this thing. I'll be customizing the presets in the coming weeks a bit...
Observation Arcade – Space Synth
A Re-release of an older album Originally released in March 2023, you might be asking “why write a newsletter about it now?”. As it happens, the album art for this work has recently received a facelift, hence my wanting to draw some attention to it 🙂 To provide some...
Little Dance for Baroque Violin
Over the past few years I've composed and arranged quite a volume of pieces for beginner / intermediate string players and I haven't shared much of that at all on my social channels, so I thought maybe it's time. https://youtu.be/qteQt9UzZ3M The Score Feel free to...
Nascense for Baroque Violin Trio
I arranged Nascence from the Journey soundtrack for an amateur string ensemble many moons ago, and I thought it might be nice to do a version for violin trio (with harp accompaniment). This recording was done on my baroque violin with raw gut strings. Cheers to Austin...

Greetings all! There is an adventure afoot… Thraxoxl, the Lizardfolk Paladin is about to embark on a dangerous quest and this album is his soundtrack. I’d like to invite you to my Bandcamp page to have a listen 🙂 . If you prefer Spotify then you’ll find that link...
